PANJIM: Damodar English HS, Gudi will clash with St Joseph HS, Chandor while Perpetual HS Navelim will meet St Jude HS, Betalbatim in the Sub Jr (U-16 years) South Gos District Hockey Championship 2024 in the in the boys and girls category, respectively.
In the boys’ semi-finals, Damodar EHS, Gudi secured a 2-1 victory over St Anthony’s High School, Majorda, via a tie-breaker. The teams finished 1-1 in regular time. St Anthony’s, Majorda, took the lead in the second quarter through Shaib, but Sarov Dessai equalised with a clinical finish in the last quarter. In the tie-breaker, Anuh and Sarov scored for Damodar, while Shaib was the lone scorer for St Anthony’s HS.
In the other semi-final, St Joseph, triumphed over Our Lady of Lourdes, Utorda, with a 2-0 win in the tie-breaker, courtesy of goals from Alex and John.
In the women’s section, the matches were played in a round-robin league format, with St Jude High School, Betalbatim and Perpetual High School, Navelim, emerging as the top two teams to qualify for the finals.
