MARGAO: Latif Shaik netted a brace as Dando Boys Club Benaulim edged past St Rock’s Youth Club Majorda 3-2 in the Goa Football Association’s Third Division match played at Dando ground, Benaulim, on Friday.
Benaulim side broke the deadlock in the 20th minute through Latif Shaik. The Majorda side took control of the match in the second quarter and found the equaliser well before half time through Roygen Pereira.
Benaulim side soon took the lead in the 20th minute as Latif shot home a ball sent in by Linster.
The red outfit finally managed to find the equaliser before the breather as the goalscorer dribbled past the defenders and passed the ball to Roger who sent the ball back in to Roygen. The latter smashed the ball home leaving the keeper standing on position.
Post resumption, St Rock’s YC managed to find the lead in the 47th minute through Ismail Pathan however Dando Boys Club’s Maverick Correia and Latif netted a goal each in the 55th and 76th minutes respectively to win the match
In another match at Curtorim ground, St Anthony’s Sports Club Assolda defeated Guirdolim Club 3-1.
St Anthony’s SC had the upper hand in the first half and successfully found the lead as Joel Fernandes shot home to open the account in the 30th minute, however, after the breather the Guirdolim side managed to slip through the Assolda defence and equalise in the 62nd minute through Christopher Cardozo.
Guirdolim Club failed to hold the rival strikers as they soon managed to score in order to maintain their 1-goal lead through Agneas Vaz in the 68th minute.
St Anthony’s Jaison Dias drove the final nail into the coffin in the add-on time to help his team ball full points, 3-1.
Elsewhere at Raia ground, Raia Sporting Club thrashed Socio Cultural Club Loutolim 6-2. Danny Fernandes, Lloyd Cardozo, Sheehan Fernandes, Docnejch Simoes, Melwin Gaoncar and Delan Gomes scored a goal each for Raia SC.
Loutolim pulled two goals back through Decuson Alves and Sandip Konde.
Enferoms Sports Club and St Cruz Society of Poitomado shared points as they played out an enthralling 3-3 draw, at Navelim ground.
Post resumption, Enfermos’ Warren Fernandes scored in the 58th minute to make it 2-2. The resilient SCS Poitomado managed to shoot into the lead yet again through Sertorio in the 71st minute before Delroy netted the third for his team to get the match back to where it all started.
