BENAULIM:Dansvaddo, Benklemodd overpowered Mazilvaddo V 7-6 via tie breaker to claim the trophy at the inter-ward tournament held on the occasion of St Anne’s Feast and organized bythe parish youth of Holy Trinity Church, at Ampem Ground, Benaulim.
From the first whistle the game was played at a high tempo. Both the sides tried a lot to break the deadlock but all they could manage were shots that would just whisker above the post.
At half time the score was 0-0
Within 5 minutes Nicholas Fernandes of Mazilvaddo broke the deadlock with a fine shot from inside the D area. Dansvaddo Benklemodd were quick to react and equalised within 2 minutes as Leslie long effort ended up in the top corner.
Nicolas Fernandes scored again through an unstoppable strike while Leslie scored his brace to equalize with 3 minutes on the clock with a superb shot.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Joel Dias, Joe, Frazer, Joel and Clifberth scored while Joel Fernandes made the decisive save while Nicholas, Mowin, Aston, and Keagan converted for Mazilvaddo V.
Nicolas Fernandes won the First Scorer of the final while Best Player of the final was bagged by Joel Dias.
