RAIA: Ranji captain Darshan Misal defeated Tunish Sawkar in the final to emerge as the champion of BG Bukkam Memorial Single Wicket Cricket Tournament played at SAG ground, Curchorem, recently.
In all, top 16 cricketers were invited. Darshan received a cash prize of Rs 25,025 and a trophy, while Tunish Sawkar had to be content with Rs 15,025 plus trophy. The third place was bagged by Deepraj Gaonkar with a cash prize of Rs 10,025 and a trophy.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Goa Cricket Association President Vipul Phadke in the presence of GCA Secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral.
Chief guest Balkrishna Hodarkar handed over the prizes in the presence of GCA Joint Secretary Rupesh Naik, Sachin Bukkam and Avdhoot Amonkar.
Quarter-finals – Tunish Sawkar beat Shantanu Nevgi, Rahul Mehta beat Imran Mulla, Deepraj Gaonkar beat Veer Yadav, Darshan Misal beat Heramb Parab.
Semi-finals – Tunish Sawkar beat Rahul Mehta, Darshan Misal beat Deepraj Gaonkar.
Individual prizes – Highest Individual Scorer in an over Heramb Parab, Maximum Sixes Tunish Sawkar, Emerging Talent of Curchorem Saish Sawant and Imran Mulla, Best Catch Satvik Naik, Best Fielder Piyush Yadav, Best Batsman Darshan Misal, Best Bowler Tunish Sawkar.
