Darshan sends Mormugao United in maiden final

MARGAO: New Entrants Mormugao United and Sports Club, Vasco shocked Cana Benaulim Sporting Association 4-2 via the tie-breaker to book their place in the final of Prime Coastal Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Prime Sports Club, Benaulim, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Wednesday. There was no score at full time.

MARGAO: New Entrants Mormugao United and Sports Club, Vasco shocked Cana Benaulim Sporting  Association 4-2 via the tie-breaker to book their place in the final of Prime Coastal Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Prime Sports Club, Benaulim, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Wednesday. There was no score at full time.
Cana-Benaulim made an aggressive start pounding the rival defense but Mormugao United goalkeeper Darshan Ambore who excelled throughout the match frustrated the rival strikers Wellington Rodrigues and Jaison Pereira with superb saves. 
Four minutes before the breather, Wellington fed by Xamaro Rodrigues again saw his low shot being grabbed by Darshan.
Mormugao United were content in defending their citadel and rely on their goalkeeper Darshan, who was simply unbeatable.  
In the tie-breaker, Mormugao United converted through Uday Naik, Abijeet Chodankar, Paulo Sequeira and Preetesh Mayenkar while for Cana-Benaulim, Meldon D’Silva and Xamaro Rodrigues found the mark and Darshan Ambore saved the efforts of Jaison Pereira and Vinny Fernandes to take his team into an inter-village final for the very first time.
The final will be played on September 7.
