MARGAO: Sporting Club of Davorlim edged past Rossman Cruz Sports Club 7-6 via the tie-breaker to march into the semi-finals of all-Goa Eslinda Alemao memorial inter-village football tournament, organized by Navelim Villagers Union, at Sinquetim ground, Navelim, Wednesday.
The teams were tied 2-2 at full time.
In an absorbing match, both the teams displayed an attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowd on their toes. Shawn Pereira drew the first blood in the 29th minute when he beat the rival goalkeeper with rasping shot.
Down by 0-1, Sporting Club of Davorlim intensified their attacks and their efforts fetched the reward when Sachin Ashtekar put the team on equal terms at the stroke of lemon break.
After the break, the same trend continued and the teams had equal number of scoring opportunities.
Richard Dias put Rossman Cruz into the lead soon after the restart. Sandy Colaco equalized for Sporting Club of Davorlim late in the second half.
At end of regulation time, the score sheet read 2-2 draw.
In the penalty shoot out, Milagres Figureido, Jose Colaco, Bruno Coutinho, Jose Gomes and Andrew Colaco were on target for Sporting Club of Davorlim while Vijal Rego, Shawn Pereira, Richard Dias and Santan scored for Rossman Cruz Sports Club.
