MARGAO: Davorlim Sporting Club blanked Verna Sports Club 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the 27th St Rock’s Super Soccer in memory of Urbano Gonsalves organized by St Rock’s Youth Club Calata-Majorda, at St Rock’s ground Calata-Majorda, on Wednesday.
In the first half, Verna SC were leading 1-0.
A defensive lapse by defender Andrew Colaco of Davorlim SC in the 20th minute saw Razor Braganza, who was prowling inside the rival box, collecting the ball coolly and placing it into the nets of Davorlim SC to make it 1-0 for Verna SC.
Change of ends saw both the teams on the attacking mode with Davorlim SC making upfront moves through Agnelo and Mack while Verna SC’s Razor tormenting the rival defence.
Davorlim SC came from behind to levelled the score through Agnelo in the dying minutes.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Davorlim SC scored through Paxton Gomes, Selwyn Miranda and Rosfon Miranda while Verna SC netted through Razor.
