PANJIM: Goa’s Dayne Coelho and Pearl Colvalcar won silver medals in their respective events at the Senior National Sailing Championship, held in Mumbai.
Dayne bagged the second place in the RS:X Olympic Class while Pearl came second best in the Laser Radical Class in women’s category.
This event was also one of the selection for the Asian Games 2022 and the top 2 in each category will be selected to represent India at the Asian Sailing Championships 2022.
Meanwhile, for Pearl, this is a huge achievement for a 15-year-old competing against the top sailors in the country and finishing second only to Nethra Kumanan who represented India at the Tokyo Olympics. Eight candidates participated in this category.
This also puts her in contention to represent India at the Asian Sailing Championships 2022.
“With young sailors like her performing on the national level, the future for Yachting in Goa looks very bright,” stated Goa Yachting Association in a press release.
