Dayne to compete in Poland

PANJIM: The windsurfing sensation from Goa, Dayne Coelho will be representing India at RS: X Youth World Championship in Poland from July 11 to 18.

In preparation of this event Dayne will also be participating in the RS: X European Youth Championship in Italy in June. RS X is the Olympic class windsurfer has so far been the exclusive domain of army team but this year Dayne broke the ice when he raced them in the senior class, winning a silver medal while just missing the gold medal on tie-breaker in the last race.
Dayne was selected to represent India by the National Federation which had earlier selected him into the B Squad for the 2018 Asian Games/2020 Olympics.
India’s first bronze medal won by Dayne at SIMS 34 Asian Open Championship 2015, Singapore earlier this year had made the selection Committee to sit-up and look at this young Goan boy. 
National squad is divided into two groups A and B. While the A squad are medal hopefuls at Asian Games and make the core team for 2018 Asian Games with 100 percent support for overseas participation.
 training, coaching and other facilities, the B squad is provided developmental opportunities to upgrade their performance to A squad levels.
A review will be undertaken based on Dayne’s performance at the Poland event in order to upgrade into squad A.
The Goa Yachting Association under the guidance of veteran founder Anil Madgaonkar   strongly recommended Dayne’s case to the State government (SAG) for this participation. With National Games scheduled for 2016 in Goa there is lot of expectations from Dayne to make Goa proud.
