RAIA: Francisco Andrade’s hat-trick helped Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, defeat Davorlim SC 3-2 in the final to clinch the 13th Wilred Leisure Football Cup organised by Wilred Leisure SC, Curtorim, at DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Sunday.
In the final played in front of large crowd, Davorlim SC scored the first goal in the 7th minutes of the game through Royson Colaco with a neat placement.
On the other hand, Aden of Davorlim SC brought down Don Bosco Oratory’s Francisco in the danger area resulting in penalty kick which was converted by Francisco in the 22nd minute. Davorlim SC scored through Prince Figueiredo but their joy was short-lived as Don Bosco Oratory’s Francisco equalised before the half time.
At half time, both teams remained on 2-2 draw.
After resumption of second half, Cliff Barreto’s long ranger shoot was punched away by Davorlim SC keeper Francisco Colaco for corner in the 46th minute. Davorlim SC’s Velroy Colaco failed to tap the ball in open net. The winning goal came in the 60th minute of the game with powerful volley from Francisco’s left footer to complete his hat-trick for Don Bosco Oratory.
Francisco was star of the match and bagged five awards – man-of-the-match, best striker of the final, first corner of the final, a hat-trick and farewell goal of the final; best goalkeeper Francisco Colaco of Davorlim SC; best half Prince Figueiredo of Davorlim SC, best defender Kevon Araujo of Don Bosco Oratory, farewell touch Karol Soares and best disciplined team Assonora United.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Alcino D’Silva, sarpanch of Curtorim; Jacob Ataide, Jackson Fernandes, president of Wilred Leisure; Michelle Rebello, Zilla Panchayat member, Bruno Lawrence, Anthony Pango, Vice-President of Goa Football Association and other dignitaries.
