SIRLIM: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda outplayed Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 5-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the 22nd Our Lady of Merces 8-A-side football tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club, at Our Lady of Hope church ground, Chinchinim, on Wednesday.
Cavelssim opened the account through Eltrin Niyas with a powerful shot off Raju Cardozo’s assist in the 17th minute.
Four minutes later, Danny Dias equalised for DBO Fatorda. Later in the 24th minute, Edgar Noronha of DBO took a volley and doubled the account.
Three minutes later, Roque Borges made it 3-1 for Don Bosco. With just five minutes left for the first half, Joshua Mendes made it 2-3 for Cavelossim.
In the second half, Cliff Barretto and Minguel Barrett netted a goal each for Don Bosco in the 37th and 57th minutes to make it 5-2 for Don Bosco.
As the match progressed in the 56th minute, Alex Rodrigues of Cavelossim made it 3-5.
Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda will now meet the winner of St Rock YC, Calata-Majorda and St Anthony SC, Marna-Siolim in the quarter-finals on August 4.
