RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda entered the quarter-finals after defeating Navelim Sporting Club 9-8 via the tie-breaker 48th Chandor Seamen tournament, at Chandor ground, on Wednesday.
Francis Andrade opened the score-line for Don Bosco in the sixth minute. Francis Andrade took a penalty shot, which was awarded after a foul in the penalty area in the 14th minute and then completed his hatt-trick for Don Bosco in the 32nd minute.
The Navelim boys came with vengeance in the second half and Prestly Gomes found the Don Bosco net in the 54th minute. The Navelim side put in more hard work and as luck would have it, a power-packed shot first hit the goal post and rebounded on the cross bar and crossed the goal line and the proceedings were levelled.
In the penalty shoot-out, Francis Andrade, Cayven Araujo, Joel Canara, Velton D’Souza, Wedly Barreto, Roque Borges and Alfred Noronha were on target for the winners while Clinton Niasso, Valinton D’ Silva, Velington Almeida, Terence Miranda Malappa and Prestly Gomes scored for Navelim Sporting. Francis Andrade of Don Bosco was awarded the man-of-the-match.
