RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, entered into semi-finals defeating a spirited Guardian Angel Sports Club 6- 5 via tie-breaker in the 48th Seamen Cup football tournament organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Tuesday.
Both teams dished out a good brand of soccer from the word go to the delight of large number of spectators. Both teams missed a number of chances.
The Don Bosco keeper brought out a couple of spectacular saves and was finally rewarded with a last minute goal before the whistle for lemon time leading 1-0 in the first half.
Coming back, the Guardian Angel boys gave out their all, for an equaliser. They finally succeeded through Godwin Fernandes, who dribbled past three players and hoodwinked solid defence of Don Bosco to place the ball into Don Bosco nets. From then on, there was no looking back for both the teams and Don Bosco exerted additional pressure but to no avail.
Both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time. In the resultant tie-breaker, Joel Camara, Roque Borges, Cayven Araujo, Velton D’Souza and Mario Noronha, were on target for the winners.
While Clifford Dias, Airen Fernandes, Myron Fernandes and Keagan Fernandes scored for the losers. Man-of-the-match was awarded to Godwin Fernandes of Guardian Angel Sports Club.
