RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda defeated Parish Youth, Nuvem, 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 16th Super Soccer football tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim, at St John the Baptist’s Dando ground Benaulim, on Monday.
Elroy Barreto of Don Bosco Oratory opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Despite their best efforts, Nuvem missed opportunities to equalise in the first half.
The second half saw Don Bosco Oratory maintaining dominance while Parish Youth continued their struggle to level the score.
A pivotal moment arrived when Don Bosco Oratory’s goalkeeper fouled in the box granting Parish Youth a penalty.
However, Parish Youth’s spot kick went wide, dashing their hopes of equalising. As the match neared its end, Don Bosco Oratory sealed their win with a second goal.
Earlier, chief guest Police Inspector Theron D’Costa declared the tournament open. Alfred Noronha of Don Bosco Fatorda was presented man-of-the match by Manoj Kesarkar, panch of Cana Benaulim Village Panchayat.
