DBO Fatorda storm into final

RAIA: Don Bosco Oratary, Fatorda, entered the finals of 34th all-Goa St Anne’s inter-village festival soccer tournament 2024, organised by Ponda Footballers, powered by Dr Bhatikar Charitable trust & Rising, Ponda, supported by SAG and played at Animal Husbandry, Curti-Ponda.

Don Bosco Oratory secured their spot in the finals with a decisive 3-0 victory over Assnora United. Hanslum Furtado was the standout player, scoring two goals, while Ritchie Vaz added another in the second half.

The match was played at a fast pace with both teams adopting an attacking strategy. Assnora United had a golden opportunity in the first half, but Prajot Naik missed two chances, shooting straight into the keeper’s hands despite being in promising positions.

In the second half, Fatorda took the lead within three minutes from a corner. Hanslum Furtado headed the ball towards Richie Vaz, who found the net as the Assnora keeper was out of position, making it 1-0. The second goal came from a classic play as Alfred Noronha delivered a knee-high ball to Hanslum, who volleyed it in with precision, leaving the keeper no chance, bringing the score to 2-0. Five minutes later, Hanslum increased his tally by capitalising on a loose ball inside the danger zone, securing a 3-0 victory.

In the finals Don Bosco Oratary, Fatorda will clash with Navelim Sporting on July 28, on occasion of the feast of St Anne’s.
