PANJIM: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, secured a thumping 5-1 against CAC, Cansaulim, to move ahead in the Goa Tiger Cup 2022 All-Goa Inter-Villager football tournament, organised by Goa United Sports Academy, arcoss the state, on Thursday.
At Rosary ground, Navelim, man-of-the-match Clencio Pinto gave DBO the lead in the 18th minute and they were in control in the second half as well after two quick goals from Cliford (57’) and Ashley (58’).
Elvino did reduce the margin for Cansaulim but there was no stopping DBO.
Clencio secured his brace (64’) and son Ashley (66’) scored his second to round off the tally.
Elsewhere at Poriat ground, Calangute, Anson Pereira score the only goal of the match as United Club Nerul defeated St Anthony’s Marna-Siolim 1-0.
The teams produced some exciting moments in the first session.
Nerul had to wait until the 50th minute to break the deadlock when Anson finished neatly.
Siolim were dominant but were unlucky.
Meanwhile, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, Quepem Veterans got the better of Varca Veterans 5-3 The teams were locked 1-1 at full time.
Sanil Fernandes gave Varca the lead in the 14th minute but Quepem soon equalised through Nelson Gomes in the 20th minute.
In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Quepem scored through Raymond D’Souza, Babazino Dias, Marcus Gomes and Mario Miranda.
Varca netted through James Da Costa and Apolo Periera.
Varca’s Narayan Mistry was adjudged man-of-the-match.
