LOUTOLIM: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda edged past Navelim Villagers Union 1-0 to move ahead in the Loutolim Village Panchayat Cup football tournament, at Montir ground, Loutolim, on Wednesday.
In the first half, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda took the lead through Christopher Borges’ long ranger in the 20th minute after an assist by Francis Andrade.
Navelim Villagers Union’s Aldrich Coelho was unlucky as he saw his header miss the target narrowly in the 25th minute of a cross by Alister Gomes.
Crossing over, both teams tried their best to score but the ball was mostly confined to the midfield.
Navelim Villagers Union came close to equalizing but Aldrich was once again denied by the rival keeper. At the other end, Francis shot wide in the 66th minute.
