PANJIM: After Elvis Gomes’ constant solo efforts of seeking grants and financial aid from the government to the affiliated GFA clubs, the battle is now taken to a team level as the GFA has decided to take up a delegation to the government and meet Sports Minister and Chief Minister regarding the same.
The various Goan clubs showed their unhappiness over the government’s decision of granting funds to only one or two clubs during the meeting and felt of uniting and seeking the support from the authorities.
“Whatever schemes the government comes out with, will favour only one, two or three clubs to the extent of Rs 3 crore. The clubs have said that there should be equal grants to all the clubs,” informed Elvis.
“This was written to the Chief Minister on many occasions but now a delegation will go and question why other clubs are not entitled for the funds and if football is played by only one, two, three clubs. So these are the major decisions we have taken today,” added Elvis.
