Panjim: DCT’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, emerged champions in the men’s category at the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Tennikoit Championship for the year 2023-2024. SSA’s Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem, clinched the title in the women’s category.
In the men’s finals, DCT’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, defeated VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, with a score of 2-0. The individual match results were as follows: Atif Jakati defeated Sandesh Gaonkar 13-21, 21-18, 21-12. Sahil Jamakhandi defeated Shubham Pagi 21-12, 21-6.
In the closely contested women’s finals, SSA’s Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, secured a 2-1 victory over Don Bosco College, Panjim, with the following individual match outcomes: Kalpita Velkaskar defeated Sadhna Ashvekar 13-21, 21-18, 22-20. Triveni Sawant defeated Arpita Sawant 21-15, 21-11. In the deciding doubles match, Triveni Sawant and Sadhna Ashvekar of SSA’s Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, triumphed over Kalpita Velkaskar and Arpita Sawant with a score of 19-21, 21-7, 22-20.
The titles of the best player in the men and women categories were awarded to Sandesh Gaonkar from VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, and Triveni Sawant from SSA’s Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, respectively.
