MAPUSA: Velsao SCC went down fighting to Dempo SC by 5-4 margin in the CAM Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium here on Saturday.

Golden Eagles all focused in retaining the top position of the ongoing GPL came strongly in the match and hammered three goals in the first ten minutes of the match.
A splendid brace by Desmon Pereira both from fine headers, where his first goal came in the very 50th second.
Laximanrao Rane then gave finishing touches to Klusner Pereira pass, while Velsao U20 Climax Fernandes reduced the margin by scoring off a goalmouth melee to make it 3-1.
If not for some outstanding keeping by Velsao’s keeper Arnab Sharma Beneston Barretto would have netted a brace and Desmon Pereira completed his hatrick.
However the keeper could do very little to stop Golden Eagles pump in two more goals through Kirtikesh Gadekar and Beneston Barretto 5-1.
On crossing ends Golden Eagles almost paid the prize for taking their lead over confidently.
Velsao colts were a complete transformed unit after their coach Eban Mesquita brought some fresh legs in the attack.
Meuton Fernandes netted a brace with K. Vinoth accounting for the teams fourth goal.
The best goal from the Velsao unit was a diving header by Meuton Fernandes off Imran Khan’s corner and the next ten minutes of the match was do or die for both the teams.
But Golden Eagles returned home triumphed taking full three points and retaining top position with 15 points from 6 matches while Velsao SCC stays on 7 points from 8 matches.
Dempo’s Desmon Pereira received the man of the match award from Laximan Hadfadkar GFA’s Executive Committee member.
