PANJIM: Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts Science and Commerce, Cujira, clinched the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee cup football title after defeating Rosary HSS, Navelim, 3-2, held at Peddem Sports Complex, Mapusa, on Monday.
Rosary led 1-0 through a goal scored by Salvador Gama. But Dempo scored the equaliser through a penalty scored by Topon Minj.
In the second half, Raunk Volvoikar found the net for Dempo HSS with a beautiful cross pass by Swivel Furtado to increase the lead.
In the 60th minute, Rosary equalised through Asher Fernandes of Rosary HSS. In the 63rd minute, Murphy Fernandes inflated the margin for Dempo HSS. The winners will head to Delhi for the National level tournament which will be held in October.
