NAGOA-VERNA: Dempo SC blanked Salgaocar FC 3-0 in the junior Hero India U-15 youth league organised by AIFF, at Nagoa ground, on Wednesday.
In the 11th minute, Dempo coach Remus Damiao Gomes changed the game plan as midfielder Velanco Elisson Rodrigues and striker Shreyash Gajanan Naik were given the task of firing from close and long range shots to test the Salgaocar FC keeper Sydney Adler Furtado and the plan worked as Shreyash netted for Dempo in the 12th minute.
Ten minutes later, Shreyash doubled the lead for Dempo.
In the 30th minute, Dempo midfielder Necio Maristo Fernandes’ shot missed the Salgaocar target by a whisker.
Sherwin Lawton Branches made it 3-0 for Dempo in the 38th minute.
In the second half, Dempo striker Vieri Colaco’s shot missed the net by inches in the 47th minute. Minutes later, Salgaocar striker Jordan Borges’ move was thwarted by Dempo SC defender Laston Barreto.
As the match was about to end, substitute Dempo defender Sairon Albuquerque missed two clear chances once the shot hit the post and the second time the cross bar of Salgaocar denied the latter’s effort.
Meanwhile, Churchill Brothers FC thumped Sporting Clube De Goa 4-0, at Utorda ground.
Churchill Brothers took the lead through Mevan Dias the 17th minute while Aditya Salgaonkar scored the second before the half an hour mark.
Tahir Shaikh converted a 73rd minute penalty to make it 3-0 and two minutes later Arnold Oliveira rounded off the tally with an assist from Pushkar Prabhu.
