PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Churchill Brothers FC in the Goa Professional League at SAG ground, Benaulim, on Sunday. Dempo SC’s goals were netted by Arnold Oliveira, Pratik Naik, and Topon Minj.
Guardian Angel SC edged out Young Boys of Tonca with a 4-3 victory at the Nagoa panchayat ground. Joel Baretto was the star for Guardian Angel, netting a hat-trick with goals in the 10th, 24th, and injury time of the first half.
Teammate Fedrich Fernandes added to the tally in the 26th minute. Young Boys of Tonca put up a fierce fight, with Raju Abbigiri starting their comeback just before the break. Sudhir Laitonjam and Yadav Rahul kept hopes alive with strikes in the 48th and the dying moments of the game, respectively.
In the Second Division League, Amaravati SC stunned Aivao YC 2-1.
