Dempo SC prevail over Fr Agnel YC

OLD GOA: Two goals in either half of play enabled Dempo Sports Club register an easy 4-0 win over Fr Agnel Youth Centre Pilar in the Goa Football Association U-14 League match played at Ella ground, on Tuesday.
Playing on their home turf, Dempo SC dictated terms from the first whistle and missed couple of chances early in the game.
Topan Mirj had the first chance of the game but his header came off the cross. Leethan Silviera was the second Golden Eagles player to be denied by the woodwork in the first quarter.
Dempo Sports Club broke the deadlock in the 8th minute when Cristiano Gomes successfully guided the ball past the rival keeper off a Topan Mirj corner. The striker controlled the ball, before unleashing a power-drive from close that had no answer from the rival keeper.
The home side were rewarded with the second goal when Topan Mirj, on receiving the ball from a Fr Agnel YC goal kick, dribbled past couple of rival defenders before making it 2,0. Dempo SC had the chance to further inflate their lead when they were awarded a penalty kick after Fr Agnel defender brought down a Dempo player in the box. Asmon Viegas failed to convert from the spot.
Crossing over, Asmon was at his best as he made amends to his earlier miss when he smashed in a powerful shot from distance to make it 3-0.
The goal boosted Asmon’s confidence as he was a transformed player on the pitch. He soon scored his second in the 47th minute to make it 4-0 in favour of Dempo SC.
