PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club scored a solitary goal win over Sporting Clube de Goa in the Goa Football Association U-18 League match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, on Monday.
Sporting Clube’s Aman Govekar and Camitio tried to penetrate the Dempo SC defence but they couldn’t get past a strong Kirdron in the backline.
At the other end, Dempo SC’s Cletus Pinto controlled the midfield and created a rare chance when he played Kanaya upfront but the lad failed to keep his composure infront of the rival goal. There was no score at the break.
Crossing end, Dempo SC dominated the initial minutes of the game and nearly took the lead from a corner kick but only to see Aryan’s effort sail over the bar.
The attempt came with series of Dempo SC raids wherein Myron had the best chance when he was fed by Cletus in the box. The former with only the keeper at his mercy, probably the best and the most easiest chance of the match, shot wide.
At the other end, Sporting Clube’s Aman Govekar tried his luck from a distance and the shot stunned everyone as it hit the cross bar.
Finally, Dempo SC broke the deadlock when Cletus Pinto played a defence splitting pass to Fedrich Fernandes, who dribbled past the keeper before rounding off the keeper, 1-0.
Dempo SC will play their final league game against Goan FC wherein both the teams would be vying for the title.
