Dempo SC take Velsao easy

Pump in six goals; Joaquim and Suraj score two each, Velit and Pruthvesh one each while Joseph nets consolation for the losers

MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club scored a thumping 6-1 win over Velsao Sports and Cultural Club in the GFA Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday.
Dempo SC were in a killer mood today and Velsao SCC felt their wrath as they dominated the entire proceeding and were leading 2-0 at half time, and on crossing ends pumped in four more goals to register their second win in their GPL campaign.
In the 26th minute, U-20 Pruthvesh Pednekar smartly guided the ball into the net from a close range off a delightful cross by Jessel Carneiro and then three minutes later Joaquim Abranches made it 2-0 for Dempo SC providing finishing touches with a neat header after being intelligently set up by Beevan D’Mello.
Dempo SC who had most of the possession could not make it count as the attack fizzled out once inside the final third of their opponents with the third goal coming only in the 74th minute when Velit Cruz getting past Velsao SCC defender fired the ball into the net, 3-0. 
Velsao SCC got the consolation goal of a swift counter attack though skipper Joseph Pereira who made no mistake in finding the net, 3-1.
Dempo SC coach Samer Naik despite seen his team leading comfortably wanted more and made a positive change bringing in Suraj Hadkonkar to replace Pruthvesh and the winger made it 4-0 by beating Velsao SCC keeper Lamani with a deft placement off a wonderfully weighted pass by Beevan.
Joaquim got his second brace of the campaign once again through a header off a perfect curling cross by Suraj who also completed his brace five minutes before the final whistle smashing the ball into the top corner once again from a cross but this time it was Jessel Carneiro to round the score sheet to 6-1.
