MAPUSA: Unbeaten Dempo Juniors scored a convincing 3-0 win over Albert Developers SC in a GFA’s First Division League Ilhas at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.
Dempo have 15 points from 5 matches and maintain the top spot. Albert Developers have 9 points from 5 matches.
It was Aryan Poll who opened Dempo’s account in the 29th minute. He beat the off-side trap and beat the rival goalkeeper. Earlier, Dempo’s Rohit Shirodkar failed to connect a cross from Rohan Nangaonkar.
After Topan Ninj’s strike from close was blocked by Albert Developers custodian Nihal Konkalkar, a stiff grounder by Rohit Shirodkar travelled just past the rival goalpost.
Nine minutes into the second session, Shreyash Naik increased Dempo’s lead. Rohit Shirodkar’s hot blooded shot was blocked by goalkeeper Nihal and the ball rolled to Shreyash who slotted the ball home.
Dempo continued dictating terms. They had two more chances but first Rohan’s header was stylishly collected by the rival goalkeeper. Later, Asnon Viegas ran solo but his strike hit the goalpost.
It was in added time that Asnon Viegas collected a through pass from Alrico Cardozo, dribbled past the onrushing custodian and scored.
At Guirim ground, CDJ Ribandar drubbed BITS, Pilani 5-0. Ribandar went into the breather with a three-goal cushion through Sachin Shirvoikar, Vishal Adkonkar and Shailesh Shirvoikar.
On crossing over, Sandesh Kavlekar netted a brace.
At Salvador do Mundo ground, Young Boys of Tonca (YBT) trounced Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao 6-0.
