VASCO: Derrick Pereira registered his second win in a row against Mohun Bagan at Tilak Maidan on Saturday and the newly appointed coach said ‘it’s God’s blessing’ on his side comeback win against the Kolkata side.
“I think it’s God’s blessing that we are wining matches. It was a very good win for us. It’s a good game. The players gave their best and they worked very hard to get the three points. There were some moments where we lost focus and conceded the first goal. We left Sony Norde free on the flank.
Churchill Bros were trailing 1-0 at the break but the Red Machines came back strongly and scored two second half goals through Anthony Wolfe and Chesterpaul Lyngdoh.
“We came back and we are happy about it. We got a crucial goal and Wolfe pounced on it. That changed the equation. Then we had the upper hand. We had a good game and a good win.
The Goan side climbed to sixth on the table with 12 points.
“Will try and do our best in each game and try to win every match. We’ll have to believe in ourselves and go with that positive attitude. And these results will definitely help us to build on the performances.
We wanted to make a change before we could equalise. We wanted to put pressure on their defence but when we got the equaliser we reorganized our midfield. And that’s the reason we were in control. I didn’t want to disturb the shape of the team. Now they are developing the understanding.
