PANJIM: Top Seed Devesh Anand Naik and Reuben Colaco took the lead at the end of Day 2 of the Open U-15 State Chess Championship while Top seed Gunjal Chopdekar and Tanvi Hadkonkar were frontrunners at the end of round five.
The championship is being organised by by Bardez Taluka Chess Association and Saraswat Vidhyalaya’s Sridora Caculo College, under the auspicious of Goa Chess Association and Sports Authority of Goa at Saraswat Vidhyalaya’s Keni Hall, Khorlim-Mapusa.
In the Open category, Devesh Naik and Reuben Colaco are led with 5 points each at the end of round Five.
Om Barde, Aayush Shirodkar, Sahil Desai, Mandar Lad, Love Kakodkar, Sharath Shnabhag, Ishan Pagi, Shivank Kuncolienkar and Madhavan G are at the second position with four points each.
In the Girls category, Gunjal Chopdekar and Tanvi Hadkonkar are leading with 4.5 points to their account at the end of round five.
Netra Savaikar, Asmita Ray and Alaina Pereira have scored four points each and are sitting at position second.
124 players are participating in the tournament among 40 players are FIDE international rated players.
The First two winners in each category will be selected to participate in the National U-15 Open and Girls Chess Championship to be held at Coimbatore, Kerala between July 8 to 17.
