PANJIM: Devesh Naik won the Ponda Taluka level rapid chess tournament, organised by Ajinkya Sports and Cultural club in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA). Amogh Namshiker, president Ponda Taluka Chess Association was the chief arbiter of the tournament.
Total 80 students participated in the tournament. Vignesh Sawant, Sneh Parab, Kaushal Naik, Rutik Shanbhag, Ushank Naik and Datta Naik secured second to seventh place respectively.
The certificates and trophies were distributed by f chief guest Santosh Kerkar (GM, VPK) and guest of honour Sagar Sakordekar.
Special prizes were awarded to Vrajesh Natekar, Gaurav Naik and Anish Naik for their excellent performance. Trophies were awarded to promising players Bhushan Gaude, Sarvesh Kurtikar, Harsh Kurtikar and Yeesha from Curti and Pisgal area.
