NAGMODEM-NAVELIM: Dicarpale SC pipped Sao Jose de Areal by a solitary goal to lift the Navelim Villagers Union trophy, organised by Navelim Villagers Union in memory of Nelson and Bazeliana Coelho, at Rosary ground, Navelim, recently.
Areal’s Joston Fernandes should have netted in the sixth minute but shot wide.
Thereafter, Dicarpale’s Micky Fernandes’ long ranger failed to pop into the Areal net. It was Dicarpale’s Mark Borges who netted the match winner in the 45th minute.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 while the runners up had to be content with Rs 30,000 plus trophies.
Luizinho Faleiro, MLA of Navelim constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Churchill Alemao, MLA of Benaulim constituency and GFA president, Fr Arlino De Melo, parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary church, Navelim, Edwin Cardozo, ZP member Navelim, Sachin ParabSocial worker Mandrem, Jose Santarita Coelho, GFA Executive member and other dignitaries.
