CHANDOR: Dicarpale Sports Club scored a fluent 2-0 victory over St Rock Youth Club, Majorda, to move to the semifinals of the Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, at Chandor ground, on Monday.
The match started with both the teams playing end-to-end football. It was Dicarpale Sports Club who made the first attempt but Velinton Rocha ballooned over with only the keeper at his mercy.
Mack Borges of Dicarpale also missed a golden opportunity to score when he delayed to shoot on goal only to be denied by the Majorda keeper who pulled up a diving save.
Majorda did try to counter attack but could not penetrate the Dicarpale defence.
Velinton Rocha made amends for his earlier miss by scoring a beauty of a goal, keeping the Majorda keeper stranded.
Changing over the Majorda lads attacked in numbers but their strikers let them down
Cindroy Furtado of Dicarpale scored the second goal of the match in the 56th minute.
Majorda had an opportunity to pull a goal back when they were awarded a penalty but denied by Dicarpale keeper who dived full length to his right to save the penalty kick. The match ended 2-0 in favour of Dicarpale.
Velinton Rocha of Dicarpale SC was awarded the man-of-the-match for his all-round performance.
