MAPUSA: A two goal blitz by Dinesh Moraskar enabled Anjuna Gymkhana Sports Club register a 2-0 win over St Augustias Sports Club Pomburpha to advance in the Nerul Golden Jubilee Cup, organised by Nerul Sports Club played at Nerul ground, here on Sunday.
In the 17th minute Anjuna’s Pawan Dhargalkar saw his open header off a cross from Pratik Dhargalkar saved by Pomburpha keeper Faran Khan.
On resumption of play Anjuna colts time and again attacked the rival citadel. In the 38th Anjuna’s Maruti Horizon missed an easy chance to score in one-to-one situation.
At the other end Pomburpha striker Pundalik Naik’s shot missed the target narrowly.
Finally in the 44th minute, Anjuna surged ahead with Pawan Dhargalkar guiding the ball into the goal off a cross from Dinesh Moraskar.
As the match progressed Anjuna doubled their lead in the 59th minute with Dinesh Moraskar netting his brace off a pass from Lestae D’Souza.
St Augustias were totally outplayed by Anjuna and weren’t given much chances in the game to score.
Man of the match was awarded to Farman Khan of St Augustias.
