PANJIM: Another of Goa’s promising chess players earned international honours to bring glory to the State and country. Diya Sawal won two gold medals at the 16th Asian Blitz Chess Championship in Sri Lanka.
In addition, she also won one bronze and one silver medal in the under nine category.
Vinay Tendulkar, President Chess Association of Goa, said it is a matter of great pride for the State that players were winning honours nationally and internationally.
Vinay said, “We have started coaching camps around the state. These are private and government camps. Students are joining and learning the sport. Many of them also participate in chess tournaments.”
