Dolreich and Lloyd shine for Raia SC

PANJIM: Raia SC defeated Guirdolim SC 6-3 to book their place into the last four of the Goa Football Association’s Third Division League match played at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, on Thursday.

PANJIM: Raia SC defeated Guirdolim SC 6-3 to book their place into the last four of the Goa Football Association’s Third Division League match played at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, on Thursday.
Dolreich Simoes and Lloyd Cardozo scored a hat-trick each while Irfan Yadwad, Mario Fernandes and Christopher Cardozo scored for the Guirdolim team.
Raia Sports Club had better possession in the game and had the first shy at the goal with Dolreich Simoes’ strike in the 3rd minute which went past the keeper.
A minute later Raia’s Lloyd Cardozo opened the scoring after he placed home a well-measured cross making it 1-0.
Down by a goal, Irfan Yadwad of Guirdolim SC kept pressing hard but his attempts were off the target.
Raia Sports Club doubled their lead through Dolreich Simoes who received a perfect cross from Danny Fernandes in the 13th minute.
In the 37th minute, Guirdolim had a good chance to score on a free kick but Mario Fernandes’ strike went straight to the shot-stopper.
Dolreich Simoes netted two quick goals in the 43rd and 45thminutes respectively, leaving the Guirdolim defence in total despair.
Despite Guirdolim SC having good crowd support nothing seemed to be going their way as Raia Sports Club went into the breather with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Post resumption, Guirdolim came out stronger and netted a goal in through Christopher Cardozo who placed a fine shot in the back of the nets in the 50th minute.
Irfan Yadwad scored another in 57thminute for Guirdolim SC as he managed to steer the ball into the corner of the nets making it 4-2.
Coming out stronger to reduce the margin, Guirdolim earned a penalty in the 78th minute and Mario Fernandes made no mistake from the spot as he slotted the ball home.
With ten minutes on the watch, Guirdolim kept pressuring the Raia defence and Hayson Velho did come close only to see his shot go just above the post.
On the counter-attack, Raia SC added two quick goals through Lloyd Cardozo in the 86th and 90+2 minutes.
