PANJIM: Don Bosco High School, Panjim thumped St Rita High School, Maina 5-2 in the State U-14 Boys Subroto Mukerjee final, organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Cuncolim ground, Cuncolim, recently. They will travel to Delhi to take pasrt in the All India tournament.
The match was evenly fought with Don Bosco leading 2-1 at half time.
Don Bosco were simply unstoppable as Anthony Fernandes netted a hat-trick while Alqer Da Costa and Shanon Viegas scored a goal each. St Rita scored through Melrio D’Mello and Riston Pereira.
The third place was won by Our Lady of Perpetual Soccour Convent High School, Cortalim as they got the better of Assagao Union High School, Assagao. Rajvan Pereira scored the all-important goal in the 1-0 victory.
The chief guest Succoro Vaz gave away the prizes along with the guest of honour Fr Avin Carvalho, Principal of Don Bosco HS, Panjim; Assistant Director of DSYA Raut Dessai; Sunil Gawas, State Sports Organize and Oswald D’Costa.
