MARGAO: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda beat Betalbatim SC 6-4 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of the 27th Lourdes football festival tournament, organised by United Club of Utorda in memory of their past President Roque Noronha in a closely contested match, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Thursday.
Don Bosco took the lead in the 24th minute through Francis Andrade who converted a penalty. Don Bosco Oratory made several inroads but Betalbatim SC keeper Milton guarded the fort well. At lemon break, the score was 1-0.
On changing over, Betalbatim SC restored parity through Manushawn in the 46th minute.
Don Bosco keeper Swizel made some good saves.
Don Bosco once again took the lead in the 60th minute through Francis Andrade who netted his brace.
Betalbatim drew level in 70th minute through a powerful header by Zuben Dias. The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Don Bosco Oratory proved to be better shooters and scored through Roque Borges, Clifford Noronha, Francis Andrade, Maxwell Furtado while Manushawn Fernandes and Ashley Fernandes managed to convert for the losing team.
