PEDDA-VARCA: St Anthony SC, Colva defeated Nuvem SC 4-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Varca Village Panchayat Soccer, at Varca SC ground, on Thursday.
St Anthony SC’s Maxon Fernandes was at his best and tried at least four long-range efforts but failed to get on the scoresheet.
Maxon impressed the spectators with his tactics, ball control dribbling and his shooting abilities.
In the 6th minute, Nuvem’s Nicolau Colaco took control of the ball from Swindon D’Silva and dribbled past Colva’s Jesus Cardozo and Cliff Dias and tried his luck at goal but the effort was saved by the rival custodian. The full time score remained goalless.
In the tie-breaker, St Anthony SC Colva netted through Baptist Fernandes, Fanslam Correia, Calburn Fernandes and Clyde Pacheco and for Nuvem SC Nicolou Colaco, Salton Colaco and Alexo Coutinho converted.
