Don Bosco, Rosary, St Xavier’s and DM’s cruise into semi-finals

PANJIM: Don Bosco College, Panjim, demolished Narayan Zantye College, Bicholim, 7-0 to march into the semi-finals of Goa University inter-collegiate women football championship at Goa University ground, Taleigao Plateau, on Friday. 

Don Bosco College netted five goals in the first half. Karen Estrocio scored a hat-trick and Aqsa Sayed and Aaroshi Govekar netted one each. 

Crossing over, Don Bosco College continued their offensive play and increased the goal tally with the efforts of Thais Mascarenhas and Manisha Salgaonkar, to seal the victory.

In another match, Rosary College, Navelim, registered a comfortable win over Vidhya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, 4-0. In the first half, for Rosary College, Clency Miranda opened the account. On resumption of play, Rosary College showcasing strong offensive play netted three goals.

Lillian Fernandes completed his brace and Aniela Barrettoto scored one.

At Rosary College ground, Navelim, St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, trounced VMS College of Law, Miramar, 5-0. 

In the first half, for St Xavier’s College, Dhanashri Naik scored a hat-trick while Pushpa Parab scored one. Crossing over, S. Xavier’s College, continued their offensive play and scored one more goal which came from the boots of Pushpa Parab, which confirmed their seat for the semi-finals.

DM’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, scored a solitary goal win over Carmel College, Nuvem. Both teams equally strong showed a good offensive as well as defence play. But the crucial match-deciding goal was scored by DM’s SCollege in the 10th minute of the match through the efforts of Sanjana Mavlankar. 

On resumption of play, offensive play of Carmel College was kept at bay by strong defence of DM’s College and no further goals were scored.
