MARGAO: The former Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco has appealed to the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant not to release 1 crore rupees which will benefit Churchill Brothers Football Club on May 8, 2020. He has urged the Government to utilise the money to fight the coronavirus.

Mickky while criticising Churchill said, “Shamelessly, without any conscience, Churchill is going to pocket yet another one crore rupees on Friday from the Goa Govt for his Churchill Bros team. That’s at a time when the Goa Govt is asking money from the people.”

“Churchill Bros are defaulters since Churchill has not submitted a utilization certificate of 6 crore rupees taken earlier. Churchill Bros are disqualified by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. What comes first, coronavirus death threat or football?,” questioned Mickky.

“Even the Central Govt has suspended the MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund) scheme to fight coronavirus. In this crisis, Churchill is boasting about how many trophies his team has won when everyone is struggling to stay alive. Our concern is only to save lives from the coronavirus for which money is required”, said the former Tourism Minister.

“How is the Govt giving a crore rupee to Churchill on May 8 and still begging with people for money to fight coronavirus? Use this 1 crore rupees to fight coronavirus” said Mickky.
