Double crown for Trupti

PANJIM, MARCH 19 Top seed, Trupti Murgunde, made it a memorable day for the hosts IndianOil, winning both the individual women's singles and doubles in All-India Public Sector Badminton Tournament, at multipurpose hall, Fatorda, Margao on Friday.

Top seed, Trupti Murgunde, made it a memorable day for the hosts IndianOil, winning both the individual women’s singles and doubles in All-India Public Sector Badminton Tournament, at multipurpose hall, Fatorda, Margao on Friday.
Trupti exhibited splendid court craft to tame her younger opponent, Neha Pandit of AAI, 21-14, 21-12. 
Trupti, teamed up with Aparna Balan (India’s No 2 in women’s doubles) to claim the doubles crown defeating Sampada Sahasrabuddhe and Megha Merin Ninan 21-9, 21-13.
The mixed doubles title went to IndianOil with top seeds Arun Vishnu And Aparna Balan defeating second seeds, Tanvir Gill And Mohita Sahadev 21-9, 21-16.
Men’s top seed, P. Kashyap (IOC) and Saurav Verma (ONGC) made it to the  singles final..  Kashyap beat his teammate Ajay Jayaram, seeded fourth, 21-17, 21-11 while Saurav Verma created an upset defeating Guru Sai Dutt 14-21, 21-11, 24-22.
In the men’s doubles final to be played tomorrow, IndianOil will lock horns with Food Corporation of India (FCI). Earlier, in the semi-finals top seeds Arun Vishnu And Tarun K. (IOC) beat Manish Rawat and Devender Dhillon (FCI) 21-17, 21-17 while second seeds  Alvin Francis  and Mayank Behl (FCI) got the better of IOC’s  Vidhyadhar  and Nikhil Kanetkar 14-21, 21-9, 21-10.
