MARGAO: Dovondem Veterans got the better of Quepem Veterans 4-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 13th Flame of Unity Veterans Football tournament, organized by Flame of Unity Sports Club, Per-Seraulim, at Mabai ground, Per-Seraulim, on Tuesday.
At half time, Dovondem Veterans led 1-0, courtesy of a self goal by Quepem defender Raymond Carvalho.
In the second half, it was a one way traffic as Dovondem Veterans attacked and scored in the 32nd minute. John Cruz’s initial shot was saved by Quepem goalkeeper Xavier and the ball fell in the path of Joaquim Fernandes, who made an easy tap in.
Thereafter, a solo effort by Francisco Colaco gave Dovondem Veterans a three-goal cushion.
In the 45th minute, Quepem Veterans scored a consolation by Jose Fernandes and in the dying minutes, Dovondem Veterans scored the fourth goal through Francisco Colaco.
Dovondem Veterans will take on Marc Caterers in the quarter-finals.
