PORVORIM: DY Patil beat Vijaya Bank by five wickets in the Goa Corporate League match organised by Goa Cricket Association, at GCA ground, Porvorim, on Sunday.
DY Patil won the toss and elected to field. Vijaya Bank put up a score of 174 for 7 in the alotted 20 overs.Abhinav Manohar was the top scorer with 83 runs off 49 balls followed by CA Karthik who scored 36 runs off 13 balls. Shishir Bhawane and C M Gautam scored 16 runs each.
The DY Patil bowlers put in a decent performance as Iqbal Abdulla, Swapnil Singh, Baltej Singh and Rishi Arothe managed to pick a wicket each.
In reply, DY Patil chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand. Mandeep Singh was unbeaten with 58 runs off 42 balls followed by Prabhsimran Singh (31) and Shashank Singh (30). The Vijaya failed to pick up wickets at regular intervals which cost them the match entirely.
CA Karthik scalped two wickets while Niyaz Nizar, SL Akshay and Arjun Shetty managed to pick up a wicket each.
Mandeep Singh was named man-of-the-match.
In the second match, Tata Sports beat Indian Oil Corporation by six wickets.
Tata’s Sufiyan Shaikh was named man-of-the-match for his unbeaten knock of 88 runs.
