PANJIM: Mario Noronha’s double ensured Chandor Club full points following their 4-2 win over Uguem Rising Club in the Goa Football Association Third Division League, at Tilamola ground, on Thursday.
Chandor looked more confident and were comfortable in the game. The team didn’t take long before they shot ahead as Mario Noronha scored the first in the 10th minute.
Hardly had the cheers died down, Chandor scored their second to consolidate their lead to two goals, thanks to Richard D’Sa’s strike. Mario’s double came just before the breather as Chandor Club led 3-0.
In the second half, Uguem pressurized and attacked in numbers scoring two goals through Selzer Alfonso and Owen Carvalho.
In the 87th minute, Chandor Club netted the fourth goal for the winners.
Meanwhile at Chapora ground, Sai Avtar SC beat Saligao United 6-3.
Abhishek Meinkar, Rohan Gadekar, Unesh Meinkar, Jitendra and Dhiraj Salgaokar scored for the winning team while Jivya Gurung netted a brace and Taiwan Travaso scored one for the losing side.
At Assonora ground, Youth Sports Club, Colvale registered an easy 5-1 win over BAFF. Sattyam Gawas scored a fine hat-trick for the winners while Saish Kanekar and Anford Fernandes were the other goal getters.
Sanam Natekar reduced the deficit for the losing side. By virtue of this results, Chapora Yuvak Sangh and Benny XI SC have qualified for the play offs.
