MARGAO: The Brazillian player Elano is back to his home, neither the complainant nor the witnesses have appeared before police even after three days of incident and the Immigration is not in a mood to entertain the police on their demands of blocking the player. The whole Elano episode of December 20 is now sounding to be a big fuss with the case going nowhere. The case has hit rock bottom as it won’t be progressing without the missing links.
Adv. Rajiv Gomes, the Counsel of Brazillian player Elano Blumer has meanwhile come down heavily on the conduct of the Police in the case of the player. The Counsel calls it as an act of arrogance and viciousness which has been unleashed on to Elano and classifies the move as “to please political masters and mining magnets”.
Rajiv has questioned the move of the Police to block Elano’s exit and has warned of backlash from the world of football and football players. Meanwhile the police look prepared to go ahead with the case. But the wait for the main stakeholders to move ahead looks undending.
“The way and attempts which have been made to stop Elano Blumer from leaving the country only reveals an intention to terrorise the foreign players and even Zico has said that the foreign players will shy away.” Rajiv Gomes said. “Is there a guarantee that the police will file a charge sheet in next six months, one year or two years? Will you keep the player in the country till that time is the question” Rajiv said.
“The move of the police to impound Elano’s passport or also to block him through immigration reveals the illegal act and an act of arrogance, viciousness and is witch hunt only to please political masters and mining magnets” Rajiv stated. “This is highest degree of intolerance on the part of police to block a player illegally” he added.
The Police Inspector of Margao Town CL Patil has meanwhile claimed that the police are moving ahead with the proceedings of the case. “In case of the alleged offender attending the case in court it is up to his counsel to decide as the advocate may appear on the behalf of the player if the law supports” said Patil.
