PANJIM: AIM Ethan Vaz (1384 Elo) fell short of overcoming the World No. 1 CM Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus of Turkey (2150 Elo) who is the world’s highest rated player in the U-10 category in the final match of the World Cup Finals 2021.
Ethan, who turns ten today (Sept 3rd), took to the World Cup Podium as the first runner-up, winning the silver medal for India on the eve of his birthday. By virtue of his podium finish, Ethan will be awarded a Diploma by FIDE and also the rights to a direct entry into the most prestigious event, the World Cup 2021 Super Finals that is schedule to be held in December this year. The World Cup Super Finals is a round-robin tournament that will be hotly contested amongst six of the world’s best players in their respective categories.
Ethan’s performance calculations in the World Cup show a mammoth rating increase of 457 Elo points over the month-long event. Had this been an over-the-board tournament, Ethan’s FIDE Rating would have increased from 1384 to 1841 Elo.
