MARGAO: Betalbatim Sporting Club made their way into the final of South Goa District under-14 play-off final after they thrashed Cortalim Gymkhana 12-0 at SAG ground, Assolna, Monday. Betalbatim led 3-0 at half time. Midfielder Princeton Rebello and striker Rollwin Almeida hogged the limelight scored three goals each while Gleson Estibeiro, Cahlil Gomes, Jonathan Veiga, Joebert Almeida, Cyrus Noronha and Manushan Fernandes scored one each.
Betalbatim played with purpose and were the more aggressive side. They outplayed their opponents in all departments of the game. Gleson Estibeiro got into the thick of things straight away when he struck in the 15th minute. They kept probing the Cortalim defence with midfielder Princeton Rebello striking twice in the 26th and 33rd minute to give his team a 3-0 lead.
At the other end, Cortalim Gymkhana struggled to function as cohesive unit and meekly surrendered without any fight.
Crossing over it was one-way traffic as Betalbatim Sporting Club swarmed all over the rival penalty area. In the 37th minute Rollwin Almeida bulged the net. Three minutes later Rollwin struck for the second time to make it 4-0 when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish.
Later, Manushan Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper Kartik Dessai with a stiff grounder. In the 45th minute Rollwin punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.
Attacking midfielder Cahlil picked up the ball from the flanks and punted it to the far corner of the net in the 47th minute.
Princeton scored in the 53rd minute off a pass from Jonathan. Jonathan added his name on the scorer’s lists in the 54th minute to increase the tally to 10-0. Joebert Almeida made it 11-0 in favour of Betalbatim in the 58th minute.
Betalbatim goalkeeper Clarence Furtado had a field day as he was hardly tested by the rival strikers. Cyrus Noronha drove the final nail into the rival coffin when he nodded in off a well measured cross from Rollwin in the 63rd minute.
