PANJIM: Fatima Convent High School, Margao won the first All-Goa Inter-school 5-a-side Futsal tournament organised by St Joseph Convent High school Nagoa, Verna at the Bulls Arena, Verna, recently.
Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, were the runners-up. The tournament was held to commemorate the memory of late Sr Magdalene Fernandes. The chief guest Ravi Cabral, president of Pax of Nagoa graced the occasion, along with other dignitaries, Nagoa Sarpanch Gabriel Fernandes, Victor Fernandes – member of Nagoa Panchayat, Richardo Gonsalves – the proprietor of Bulls Arena, ex-teachers Christine D’Souza and Rosamaria Rodrigues.
In all 16 schools participated in the tournament. To motivate and encourage the young women players, and to showcase women empowerment at its finest, the final match was graced by special guest Rev. Sr. Annie Fernandes, along with Olympia Pereira, Pricilla Monteiro and Alexina Fernandes.
