CHANDOR: Fatima Convent High School, Margao got the better of St Mary’s of the Angels Convent High School, Chinchinim 1-0 and moved into the semi-finals of the 1st teacher Dolorosa Memorial U-17 girls football tournament, played at Chandor ground, on Saturday.
St.Mary’s striker Sujata Shetty’s long ranger in the third minute should have found the ball at the back of Fatima net but the keeper of Fatima Miffy Rebelo saved the latter’s shot brilliantly.
Fatima’s Aloysia Fernandes’ left footer missed the St Mary’s net in the tenth minute.
Fatima should have scored in the 20th minute through Siena Costa but her shot was palmed away to safety by St Mary’s keeper Kelly Colaco. It was substitute Paloma Pires who netted the match winner for Fatima Convent HS, Margao with a snap shot in the 35th minute.
