VILLA-MAREX-CHANDOR: Fatorda Veterans defeated Mark Caterers Veterans 3-1 to emerge champions of the Villa Marex Veterans Cup, at Villa Marex ground Chandor on Sunday.
Rosario Dias scored the first for Fatorda with a power-packed shot in the 6th minute.
Three minutes later, Robert Fernandes equalised for Mark Veterans.
The first half was restricted to midfield battle for remaining minutes as both sides failed to maintain possession.
In the second half Fatorda Veterans started the match on the front foot and netted two more goals through Rosario Dias and Francis Andrade in the 47th and 49th minutes to make it 3-1.
Thereafter, it got difficult for Mark Caterers to get back in the game. However, they kept trying in search of a goal but a strong Fatorda defence denied them any chances.
Overall, Fatorda had a good game as they exhibited good passing and maintained better possession in the second half.
Cuncolim MLA Clefasio Dias was the chief guest for the final and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries
